Sarah Taylor from Clearwater International was named Rainmaker of the Year as the West Midlands’ corporate finance finest were recognised at a packed awards evening.

The winners of this year’s Rainmaker Awards were revealed at a gala dinner and ceremony.

Transaction Services Team of the Year: RSM
Corporate Finance Team of the Year: Clearwater International
VC/Private Equity Team of the Year: NorthEdge
Rising Star of the Year: Matthew Guest, Springboard Corporate Finance
Funder of the Year: HSBC
Changemaker of the Year: Beth Mather, Gateley
Small Cap Deal of the Year (Up to £15m): Premier Paper Group bought Wine Box Company
International Deal of the Year: Birmingham marketing tech firm Inspired Thinking Group (Team ITG) acquired New Zealand-based Brand Machine
Private Company Deal of the Year: Friend MTS was backed by private equity firm NorthEdge
Private Equity Exit Deal of the Year: Palatine achieved a 5.8x return on its investment in CTS Group, through a sale to Oakley Capital
M&A Deal of the Year: Telecoms firm Wavenet, acquired OGL Computer Support Holdings and its two subsidiaries OGL Computer Support and CyberGuard Technologies
Public Markets Deal of the Year: Mercia Asset Management acquired Frontier Development Capital, for £7m and with a further £4m dependent on performance
Rainmaker of the Year: Sarah Taylor, Clearwater International

300 people from the West Midland corporate finance community attended the prestigious awards ceremony at The Macdonald Burlington in Birmingham.

The inaugural Rainmaker Awards celebrated the deals, teams and individuals that have had the biggest impact in the previous year.

The shortlist was created by more than 30 senior professionals and the winners were then selected with each firm getting one vote.

Headline sponsor for this year’s award was leading specialist recruitment company Michael Page.

Category sponsors included Rhino Interiors and Kuboid.
