Business of the Year Awards: Search is on for region’s sustainability stars

The need to operate businesses in a sustainable fashion has never been more important than it is today.
Large and small enterprises from all sectors now take their sustainability responsibilities extremely seriously, with more companies intensely focused on how they can support the “circular economy” and bin the wasteful practices of the past.
The Sustainability Award at TheBusinessDesk.com’s Business of the Year Awards will reward a business which demonstrates its ability to reduce its impact on the environment, whether through a product or service that supports the endeavours of others, or a strategic change or investment that has made a significant positive difference.
The West Midlands Business of the Year Awards 2024 are backed by headline sponsors Cazenove Capital, Freeths, LDC, Clearwater International and Robert Walters.
Freeths is also sponsoring the Sustainability category.
Kirstin Roberts, director (Birmingham), in Freeths Clean Energy, Waste & Sustainability team, said: “No West Midlands business can ignore sustainability and why would you, when a focus on making your business more sustainable and identifying the opportunities it presents may lead to cost savings and will definitely lead to protection of shareholder value.
“Your competitors will be on a sustainability journey and if you’re not, you’re going to get left behind. Freeths is delighted to sponsor the Sustainability category in the West Midlands Business of the Year Awards. We are passionate about supporting businesses in the areas we reside, and we can’t wait to see what the West Midlands has to offer in this category.”

A key event in the business calendar, the awards will recognise companies that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their industry and continue to contribute to the West Midlands business community.
The awards will celebrate and honour the very best of businesses of all sizes and sectors across the region.
For the first time, the 2024 awards will also include a rigorous judging process that will see all the companies visited by members of our judging panel, before a shortlisting process.
Each company on the shortlist will then be invited to present to the judges why they should win an award, with the winners revealed at a high-profile awards evening at The Macdonald Burlington on February 22, 2024.
There are 15 categories to enter the West Midlands Business of the Year Awards 2024. As with previous years, the Ambassador award will be chosen by the judges.
