National World offloads tech provider for £3.5m

National World has disposed of publishing technology provider Press Computer Systems (PCS) in a £3.5m deal with Naviga.
Wolverhampton-based PCS was acquired in September 2023, as part of National World’s £11.5m acquisition of the newspaper and online assets of The Midland News Association.
The sale was finalised on March 31 and paid through a prepayment from National World to Naviga under a software agreement signed between the two parties upon completion of the disposal.
National World’s chairman David Montgomery, said: “Newspaper production technology is not our core expertise and so we believe PCS is being transferred into good hands with Naviga, which is best placed to develop that business while continuing to serve National World’s modernisation and automation needs for the long term.“
