Hexis, specialists in AI-driven fueling plans for athletes, has announced a £1.6m pre-seed fundraising round.

The pre-seed funding includes investment from APEX, an athlete-backed venture capital firm with a history of supporting tech startups, and Sport Republic, a sports investment company with ownership of football clubs Southampton FC, Valenciennes FC (France), and Göztepe SK (Turkey).

Birmingham-based Hexis’ technology is rooted in the understanding that each athlete is unique, requiring tailored fueling to unlock their full potential.

With its scientific Carb Coding TM system, Hexis provides fully personalised fueling plans tailored precisely to each athlete’s needs.

Led by Dr. David Dunne, Dr. Sam Impey, and more recently, Professor James Morton, Hexis also offers real-time adaptive fueling plans to optimise performance and speed up recovery based on an athlete’s workout.

Co-Founder and CEO of Hexis, Dr David Dunne said: “We are proud to have the backing of APEX and Sport Republic as we continue to push the boundaries of intelligent personalised nutrition technology to enhance performance. Their investment is a major vote of confidence in our mission, and it will allow us to accelerate our efforts to support athletes, coaches and organisations with cutting-edge solutions. We’re excited to collaborate with them and leverage their expertise and industry connections.”
