Mexican restaurant opens new site at the Bullring

Zambrero a Mexican-inspired restaurant has now opened its latest site at the Bullring & Grand Central in Birmingham city centre.

Located on Bullring’s middle level, the 580 sq ft space features Mexican favourites like burritos, bowls, tacos, and nachos.

Zambrero’s ‘Plate 4 Plate’ initiative donates a meal to someone in need for every burrito or bowl purchased, partnering with Rise Against Hunger.

To date, Zambrero has delivered over 78m meals worldwide and Birmingham customers can now contribute to the goal of donating 1bn meals by 2025.

This aligns with Hammerson’s social impact goals, such as a partnership with mental health charity Mind, which has now created a well-being drop-in centre at the Bullring.

Zambrero’s opening follows other additions at Bullring and Grand Central, like EL&N Café and the upcoming Pop Street.

Toby Tait, director of Asset Management at Hammerson, said:“The opening of Zambrero reaffirms our strategic focus to target new and exciting brands, concepts and entertainment. In turn, attracting and exciting new audiences and engaging our visitors. We are excited to be introducing a brand which has a strong social value ethos and which is an important consideration amongst our customers and communities.

Emily Teh, UK chief executive officer at Zambrero, said:We’re thrilled to be opening in the Bullring, which is such a vibrant destination in the heart of Birmingham and are looking forward to  being a part of the local community. We’re excited to be introducing modern Mexican food to The Bullring so customers can enjoy freshly prepared meals that are made just the way they like it.  And by simply enjoying our food, customers will also be supporting our mission to help end world hunger through our Plate 4 Plate initiative.”
