Restored Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham unveiled
Independent property company Hortons has revealed the restored exterior of the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, a historic mixed-use building in Birmingham city centre.
Specialist contractors have completed essential repairs to the hotel’s elevations on Lower Temple Street, Stephenson Street and New Street.
The restoration work involved repairing and replacing damaged stonework and leadwork, as well as repointing the brickwork and repainting the building.
Originally constructed in the 1860s and 1870s, the Burlington Hotel is regarded as Birmingham’s first railway hotel.
The building now houses hotel, leisure, and retail spaces across seven floors.
James Fox of Hortons said: “Historic buildings of this kind present unique challenges, which require specialist knowledge and expertise to overcome. We have worked closely with the local council and our contractor to deliver this complex restoration project as quickly and safely as possible. I’m sure The Burlington will continue to be one of Birmingham’s most loved buildings for many years to come.”
