Birmingham insurance broker expands with new London office

Birmingham-based real estate insurance broker JM Glendinning is expanding with a new London office at 1 Bedford Row.

Led by Somerset Akerman and Jon-Paul Matyus-Flynn, the new base will help the company support property developers, investors and managers across a wider area.

Somerset Akerman joins from Estates Insurance Group, bringing experience in personal lines, commercial books, and real estate business development.

Founded in 2017 by Chris Hitch, JM Glendinning Real Estate, part of the JMG Group, manages real estate insurance for all stages of the property development cycle.

The firm, which employs 15 people, has grown through acquisitions, including Madoc & Rhodes earlier this year.

Hitch said: “I’ve been looking for the right people to help us build the business in London. It’s not every day you meet people with the professionalism, and determination, both Somerset and Jon-Paul have. They work incredibly well together and share the same focus, approach and values, which are in alignment with our own.
