Taylor Wimpey appointed to major Warwickshire residential scheme

Taylor Wimpey has been appointed as the delivery partner for a 23-acre Rugby residential development.

The site forms part of the South West Rugby Sustainable Urban Extension, known as Homestead View, which is set to create around 5,000 new homes, 35 hectares of employment and key community infrastructure including the South West Rugby Link Road.

After being appointed by Richborough, the housebuilder is proposing to deliver 195 homes on the newly acquired site, as well as land for the Homestead Link Road and public open space.

The site is controlled by five different landowners. In 2020, Homes England acquired 92.03 hectares of land from Warwickshire County Council and another private owner. The remaining land is being promoted by developers Taylor Wimpey, L&Q Estates, Richborough Estates and Tritax Big Box.

12.94 hectares of land has already been acquired by Miller Homes on behalf of the landowner and Catesby Estates (part of Urban&Civic) for 210 homes and a primary school.

Joe Blincoe, regional land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey Midlands said: “We are delighted to partner with Richborough on this acquisition. The scheme will provide much needed homes in Rugby and positively contribute to the local community by supporting the delivery of the proposed high-quality facilities and transport infrastructure at Homestead View.

Joe Jones, regional director at Richborough said: “We are thrilled to have appointed Taylor Wimpey – one of the UK’s largest housebuilders – as our development partner for this site. We can’t wait to see it take shape and help answer the area’s housing needs”.

Land agents Andrew Russell-Wilks and George Percy of Godfrey Payton acted on behalf of the landowner.

George Percy, partner at Godfrey Payton said; “We have worked with Richborough on this site for a number of years and their technical expertise has accelerated the timeframe for sale. I am sure Taylor Wimpey are well placed to deliver part of the Council’s vision for a new community in south-west Rugby.”
