Historic Shropshire pub hits the market

A 17th-century village pub near the Welsh border in Shropshire has been put up for sale.

Known as The Docks and also as ‘The Cross Keys’ the Selattyn-based freehouse has been serving locals since around 1840 and features a CAMRA-recognised bar of national historic interest.

The site includes three bar rooms, three dining areas seating over 80, and a self-contained flat.

Five ensuite bedrooms are also partway through conversion, offering the potential for bed and breakfast accommodation.

Current owners Shaun Coadey and Becky Ford, who took over in 2019, said it’s time to “hang up our beer serving aprons to see some more of the world, and hand the baton over to someone who will love this pub as much as we have.”

The property is being marketed by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, with a freehold asking price of £525,000.

James Dodd, business agent at Christie & Co said: “It is an honour to sell a pub that has such a good reputation, both locally and across the country. We look forward to finding the right buyer to take the pub forward and we welcome enquiries from interested parties.”
