Floors-2-Go slips into administration costing 192 jobs

BIRMINGHAM-based floor covering specialist Floors-2-Go has slipped into administration, costing 192 jobs and closing 53 shops.
But part of the company appears to have been saved after it was bought out by a new firm called Nixon and Hope, which was incorporated on August 10, saving 162 jobs and keeping open a further 35 shops.
This is the second time in three years that Floors-2-Go has encountered problems after it went into administration in July 2008 when it was backed by the Alchemy Partners private equity firm.
It was then bought out in 2009 by members of the Hodges flooring dynasty family who originally founded the company.
Chairman James Hodkinson joined the company earlier this year but left his post at the end of May according to documents filed at Companies House.
Jeremy Bowden and Ian Pankhurst, from Warwick-based Senate Recovery, have been appointed joint administrators but were not available for comment at the time of publication.
No-one was available to comment from Floors-2-Go’s head office in Birmingham.
