BIRMINGHAM-based property consultancy GBR Phoenix Beard has been appointed to manage the Cardinal Square office development in Derby city centre.

The building, located at the intersection of the A52 and the A6, is fully let and tenants include Derbyshire Constabulary, NHS Derby City, Freeth Cartwright Solicitors and Derby City Council.

The office development covers 114,000 sq ft in total and has undergone a complete refurbishment over the last two years.

It is owned by Birmingham-based investment firm Nurton Developments.

GBR director Neil Anderson said: “This is our first property management engagement for Nurton.

“Clearly, this is an extremely successful investment for them, having achieved such high occupancy levels in current market conditions.”

DARREN Green, a senior project manager with Walsall-based construction group Shaylor, has been shortlisted in the Construction Manager of the Year Awards.

Mr Green has been named as a finalist in the housing/accommodation projects over £6m category.

The awards, which were established in 1979 and run by the Chartered Institute of Building, take place on October 13 in London.

NATIONAL Tyres and Autocare has opened a new base in the Black Country as part of a UK-wide expansion programme.

The company, headquartered in Stockport, has taken a 6,136 sq ft unit at The Stourbridge Estate, which is owned and managed by Kingswinford outfit London and Cambridge Properties.

The move has created five jobs and is the 13th new branch to open this year, bringing the company’s network to 225 branches in total, including in Brownhills, Cannock, Shrewsbury, Telford and Coventry.
