Commercial vehicle retailer invests £2.5m in new Cannock site

COMMERCIAL vehicle retailer, Van Monster, has opened a new £2.5m operation in Cannock.

The 5.75-acre site, in Walkmill Lane, has enabled the firm, which is part of Northgate plc, to expand and display more vehicles.

The new site has space for 120 vehicles, as opposed to the 70 it could display at its former site in Birmingham. From next month, Northgate Vehicle Hire will also be moving to the site, where 480 sqm of office space has been opened.

Gary Sullivan, managing director at Van Monster, said: “The move to Cannock is a fantastic opportunity and we’re thrilled to have a bigger space.

“Due to the accessibility of the Cannock site we expect to see growing demand for the workshop facilities at the Northgate site too, which will open in November.”

Shelly Emery, branch manager at Van Monster Cannock, said the new venture would open up new markets for the firm, while the new business had also created a number of new jobs.

Van Monster has continued to expand to meet demand and in addition to Cannock, also has sites in Bridlington, Colchester, Darlington, Leicester, Newmains (near Glasgow), Wakefield and Warrington.

The relocation is a further boost to Cannock’s economy, which has recently been boosted by online retailer Amazon opening a new distribution hub in Rugeley and creating 900 jobs and courier APC announcing it is to relocate to the Kingswood Lakeside business park from Essington, creating 120 new jobs in the process.
