Walsall launches new retail initiative

BUSINESSES in Walsall are mounting a new initiative to try and encourage fresh retail investment in the town.
The borough council said the town centre had recently seen millions of pounds pumped into it with the opening of a new Tesco supermarket and the redevelopment of the Old Square Shopping Centre.
The intention now is to support this investment by encouraging people to shop and set up business in the town.
Highlighting the campaign is the launch of a bold new commercial logo for the town centre and the rest of the borough.
The striking design is set to be used to help market the town centre across the region and to would-be investors nationally.
Cllr Adrian Andrew, deputy leader of the borough and cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We’re bucking the national trend in Walsall town centre for attracting investment.
“You only have to look at the plans for a multi-million pound makeover for the Old Square Shopping Centre in attracting Primark and the Co-Op back to the town centre.
“To make an even bigger impact on a national scale a logo will help give a professional image to potential investors in the town.”
The approach has been welcomed by Angela Henderson, manager of the Saddlers Shopping Centre and Walsall Town Centre Champion.
She said: “This is an approach that will take Walsall into the future. When you’re dealing with big players in the world of retail and business it helps having a clear brand and this logo helps Walsall to achieve that.”
Businesses will be able to feature the logo on their websites and in their own marketing campaigns.
