Teams needed for charity It’s a Knockout

THE PERILOUS Pendulum and Barmy Bingo are among the games awaiting brave teams wanting to enter a charity It’s A Knockout event in Birmingham.
Organised by city businessman Mark Hales, the traditional obstacle game – made famous because of the TV commentary by Eddie Waring – will be held at Blue Coat School, Metchley Lane, Edgbaston on Sunday, May 23, at 12.30pm.
A total of eight teams from across the city have already signed up for the day, which is being held to raise funds for Sense, but venture capitalist Mr Hales is hoping at least two more will sign up.
Mr Hales, who invests in SMEs, said he was hoping the day will raise £12,000 for the charity that helps deaf-blind people.
“We could really do with ten teams, but 12 would really make it go with a bang,” he said.
“Many of the teams who have signed up are doing it as part of a team-building exercise, but it will be a real family day and we hope lots of people will come to watch what will be something really fun.”
It costs £750 to enter a team of ten, but companies wishing to sponsor individual races can do so for £250.
There will be seven races and participants will use the original costumes and equipment from the BBC show.
