Hotel set for expansion after new funding package

A STAFFORDSHIRE bed and breakfast business is set to continue its expansion after securing a new financing package.
The Old Hall Country House in Madeley, a 16th century Grade II listed building, was transformed into a luxury hotel, complete with four en-suite rooms and function area by owners Gary and Simon White in 2008.
The Old Hall was a winning participant in this summer’s Channel 4 show ‘Four in a Bed,’ following which interest in the hotel escalated, with weekend rooms now fully booked until March.
In order to cope with the increased occupancy, employee hours have doubled and up to 10 staff are now brought in to work at each wedding.
The hotel has switched banks to Lloyds TSB Commercial, which has supplied the six-figure funding package.
The new financing will enable the bed and breakfast to concentrate on ensuring its occupancy rates remain high.
Gary White said: “The business has enjoyed solid growth over the last year, and we are very busy, particularly at weekends.
“The influx of visitors has enabled us to double staffing hours, whilst the outsourcing of our laundry has allowed us to ensure the bed and breakfast runs smoothly day and night.
“The funding we received enables us to concentrate on meeting our customers’ needs and our growth targets.”
Steve Lamb, relationship manager for Lloyds TSB Commercial, said: “The Old Hall Country House is steeped in history and located in an idyllic setting, and its recent appearance on ‘Four in a Bed’ and the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that greets visitors demonstrates why it is enjoying such success in a competitive industry.
“The business’ recent growth is impressive, as was its strategic plans for continued expansion when they approached Lloyds TSB Commercial for funding.”
