Shakespeares acts on Whitworth Bros acquisition

A TEAM from Midlands law firm Shakespeares has acted for Northamptonshire-based Whitworth Bros on its acquisition of a flour-milling business.

Based in Wellingborough, Whitworth Bros is a family-owned business established in 1886, specialising in the production of bakery products and flours. The company has acquired the business of Smiths Flour Mills, which has flour mills in Worksop,  Langley Mill and Holbeach from joint  administrators Alastair Beveridge, Nick Cropper & Anne O’Keefe of Zolfo Cooper, for an undisclosed sum.

Andrew Smith, corporate partner at Shakespeares, who led the team, said: “We were able to move quickly to pull together a six-strong team of legal experts to support Whitworth Bros in making this strategic acquisition and assist the business in increasing its production capacity. The deal was completed in the space of just a week.

“Whitworth Bros is a thriving Midlands-based business and we are delighted to be involved in supporting them as they continue to strengthen their operations and grow their footprint.”

DLA Piper acted for the joint administrators.
