Record order book sees Lorien instigate growth plans

BURTON-based Lorien Engineering is looking to expand its workforce by 20% and open a new Scottish operation to cope with the demands of a full order book.

Its order book has almost doubled compared to the same period 12 months ago.
The engineering design and project management firm’s UK and Europe-wide client base has doubled in size in the last three years, particularly across the food, sustainability and energy efficiency sectors.

Lorien has a staff of more than 80 at its bases in Burton, Manchester and Poland. A third UK base is planned for Edinburgh while the Polish business is moving to a bigger premises in Wroclaw during the summer to accommodate a growing workload.

The firm’s managing director Steve Slater said: “During these difficult economic times we have continued to invest in the business whilst remaining profitable and as a consequence we are now in a stronger position than we have been for a number of years.

“The main reasons for this are the quality of our staff and listening to our customers, building relationships and ultimately growing accounts.”

This has been borne out by the findings of the firm’s most recent client satisfaction survey, where 95% of those surveyed rated Lorien’s team of specialist engineers with top scores for both their ability and performance.
