Senior dealmaker joins Cattaneo

WELL-known Midlands dealmaker Gary Hyem has joined Cattaneo LLP, the Birmingham-based corporate finance advisory business.
Hyem joins from M3 Corporate Finance for whom he established a Birmingham office in 2009.
Prior to M3 he held senior positions at Clearwater Corporate Finance and private equity business Baring English Growth Fund, where he led deals as principal. He gained his initial corporate finance experience with big four accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young.
Hyem, who has advised on numerous corporate acquisitions and disposals across a wide range of sectors, will continue to target corporate transactions in and around the greater Midlands region as well as further afield.
His particular expertise is in working with both shareholders and management teams to structure solutions for management and ownership succession, including buy-outs, buy-ins and equity release transactions.
He said: “The Cattaneo team has had an impressive run over the past few years, advising on a string of transactions and being particularly successful at generating repeat business from its growing client base.”
Charles Cattaneo said: “I am very pleased to welcome Gary to the team. His experience and style of working fits perfectly with our philosophy of working closely with clients in devising workable solutions and solving technically challenging problems.
Cattaneo LLP was formed in 2005 and has grown to a team of five senior principals and consultants. It is currently advising the Edgbaston-based Islamic Bank of Britain on an approach by its majority shareholder to buy out the minority shareholders in the company.
