Deeley picks up Tividale scheme contract from Stoford

A COVENTRYconstruction firm has landed a contract worth close to £1m to create a new retail development in the Black Country.

Deeley Construction has started work on three new retail units on the corner of Oakham Road and Regent Street in Tividale after being appointed by Birmingham developer Stoford to carry out the work.

The 9,000sq ft scheme, which is expected to be completed in August, will see the creation of a new Co-operative foodstore and veterinary centre on the site of a former pub.

Negotations are currently taking place with a number of other businesses interested in the new opportunity.

Martin Gallagher of Deeley Construction said: “This is a very significant contract. We are already on-site and anticipate completing the work before the end of the summer.

“It is the first time we have worked with Stoford and look forward to a long-term relationship. We built the nearby Oakham Grange housing development which these units will serve, so it rounds it all off very well.”

The new £950,000 deal marks a strong start to 2012 for Deeley Construction despite the industry being hit by hard times.

The firm has won a number of contracts around the region including schemes in Worcester, Coventry, Leamington Spa and Birmingham.
