Style Birmingham to highlight the city’s retail offer

BUSINESS improvement district Retail Birmingham has launched the 2012 version of the city’s largest annual shopping and fashion event, Style Birmingham LIVE.

The catwalk show, which last year brought in 3,000 ticket holders and an increase in city footfall of more than 33,000 visitors, is back on Saturday September 29 at The Mailbox, with a brand new host – actress, singer and star of ITV’s ‘Let’s Get Gold’, Martine McCutcheon.

Designed by Retail Birmingham to increase the profile of the city centre’s retail offering, last year the event featured involvement from more than 150 city centre retailers, with 60 showcasing product within the Style Birmingham LIVE catwalk show.

The average show-visitor spend topped £115 per shopper last year it is hoped that spend within the BID area will be even higher this year.

Jonathan Cheetham, chair of Retail Birmingham and general manager of The Pallasades shopping centre, said: “Style Birmingham LIVE is Retail Birmingham’s flagship event and has become a firm favourite in the region’s diary since its inception five years ago.

“We’re very much looking forward to the return of the show in September this year, with a change of venue and an exciting change of host.

“With more than 1,000 stores in the city centre, 100 of which are independent, the show gives us the perfect platform to showcase our retailers, combining our efforts to encourage shoppers into Birmingham to experience for themselves both the show and the wider fantastic retail offer we are so proud of.”
