Impney hotels deal boosts law firm

BLACK COUNTRY law firm QualitySolicitors Talbots has been boosted by its involvement in a major hotel deal.

The firm, which has branches in Stourbridge, Kidderminster, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Codsall, advised on the deal which has seen two of Worcestershire’s best known hotels change hands.

The firm’s Business Services Team worked with a number of parties to successfully complete the sale of The Impney Group – which comprises the iconic Chateau Impney Hotel together with its sister property, The Raven Hotel, both in Droitwich.

The future of both sites had been under doubt since the group fell into administration.

The deal brokered with administrator BDO has seen ownership of the hotels transfer to Birmingham-based Greyfort Properties. The move has also secured the jobs of 44 people employed by the hotel group.

The sale also clears the way for the Raven site in the town centre to undergo possible redevelopment.

Mark Hodgson, partner and head of Talbots’ Business Services Team, said: “We were delighted to support Greyfort Properties to secure the business and assets of The Impney Group.

“This sale was more than just a commercial property deal for us. Most of us have attended events at Chateau Impney so it was extremely pleasing to help secure its future.”

Guy Spollon, director at Greyfort Properties, added: “The team at Greyfort Properties are determined to preserve the unique qualities of the Chateau Impney Hotel.  At the same time we are keen to develop, with the support of its enthusiastic staff, both the hotel and conference facilities for local, national and international events.”

Ben Elder, general manager at the Chateau Impney, said: “The sale is great news for the hotel and the team here. We are excited to be part of the future of this stunning property and look forward to helping it realise its huge potential.”
