Black Country firms urged to get Royal seal of approval

BLACK Country businesses which believe themselves to be among the best in their field have been encouraged to gain recognition for their work by applying for The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.
The awards, the most prestigious business awards in the UK, are bestowed by The Queen in three categories: Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development.
Entry to the awards is free and open to all UK-based companies employing a minimum of two full time people or equivalent.
The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership is backing the bid and is encouraging as many firms as possible in the area to submit applications.
The awards provide global recognition that a company is outstanding in its field. Winning can boost staff morale and lead to an increase in sales.
Winners receive a commemorative Grant of Appointment certificate and a crystal bowl, and can display the Awards emblem for five years. All winners are invited to a reception with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
There is also an award for individuals – The Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion – for which people are free to nominate anyone they believe is worthy of recognition for promoting enterprise and entrepreneurial skills and attitudes in others.
Entry is now open for the 2013 awards and the closing date is September 28, 2012.
