McCourt named new chair of Birmingham Leadership Foundation

LOCAL charity, the Birmingham Leadership Foundation (BLF), has announced the appointment of Anthony McCourt as non-executive chair of its board of directors.
McCourt, formerly director of The Cube, the Birmingham canal-side retail and residential development and the youngest ever winner of the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) award, will succeed Peter Latchford OBE who has served as chair since 2010.
McCourt will be joined by four new non-executive directors from the private sector: Hilary Allen of Davis Langdon, Amanda Lowe of Marketing Birmingham, Kirsten Henley of Colmore Business District and Lee Kemp, director of Vermillion Film.
Under the new directors’ guidance, and in partnership with the public and private sector, BLF will offer practical learning experiences to a new generation of aspiring leaders from across Birmingham.
The BLF provides opportunities for young people aged 18-30 from the city’s most challenged communities to develop their leadership and business skills.
McCourt said: “I am delighted to join the BLF board and am really looking forward to playing a key role in discovering the next generation of leaders in Birmingham.
“I am thrilled to be in a position to support talented young people who may not necessarily have a strong academic record nor come from a privileged background; neither should be pre-requisite to leadership.
“We hope that every business in Birmingham will come to support, join and be a part of the BLF movement through the coming months and years and help us in providing valuable opportunities to grow leadership talent in young people across Birmingham.”
