Logistics firm pays tribute to founder Stan Robinson

A STAFFORD-based logistics firm has paid tribute to its late founder by commissioning a specially-customised truck in his honour.
Stan Robinson died in April this year 42 years after he started his eponymous business with just one truck.
Now executives at the firm he left behind, including several family members, have made the decision to mark Stan’s legacy with a specially customised DAF vehicle from the Willenhall-based Greenhous dealership.
Mark Robinson, Stan’s son and the firm’s managing director, said: “My dad started the business in 1970 and over 42 years he built it up from one vehicle to a fleet of 190. He was incredibly focused on it and last year he put plans into place to complete a new warehouse project which he worked on right until one month before his death.
“Because he invested so much time and passion into the business, we thought it was only right that we commemorate his life’s work, and what better way to do that than a truck created in his memory?
“The DAF vehicle will be customised to include images of dad, with some of his vehicles – some of them being vintage pieces that he restored himself and took real pride in – so that anyone who sees it knows that he still lives on in the business.”
The FTGXF105-510 Super Space Cab tractor unit will also display Stan’s personal number plate – SR2 – to commemorate him.
Peter Ward at Greenhous DAF said: “Stan Robinson Ltd has been a fantastic customer of ours over the years, and we’ve built up a strong relationship with the team as the business has grown. We were very sad to hear of Stan’s illness and passing, and privileged to be asked to get involved with such a special commission to mark his success.
“Stan’s logistics business has flourished over the past 40 years and expanded from its Stafford base to operate across the UK with depots as far afield as Glasgow and Devon, so this one-of-a-kind vehicle is a fitting tribute to him.”
