Black Country galvanising firm wins US Navy contract

A BLACK Country galvanizing firm has secured a major order with the US Navy. B E Wedge, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, supplied specialist centrifuge galvanizing treatment to 12.5 tonnes of steel scaffold fittings sent to America as part of refurbishment work at one of the US Navy’s naval docklands.
The scaffold fittings were created by B E Wedge’s long-standing client, George Dyke Ltd, a Darlaston-based forge-master that works with clients in sectors such as construction, manufacturing and transport, both in the UK and across Europe, the United States and Canada.
Lee Dickens, sales manager at Willenhall-based B E Wedge, said: “This project was fantastic to work on and we really enjoyed partnering with George Dyke Ltd. For the US Navy to have sourced the work all the way here to the West Midlands is a testimony to the quality of work companies in the UK can provide.”
Gary Smith, his counterpart at George Dyke, added: “Having worked with B E Wedge on numerous occasions, we know that the services they provide will more than exceed our expectations every time. We use them to galvanise our steel to protect it against corrosion and weathering.”
Wedge Group Galvanizing is the largest hot dip galvanizing organisation in the UK with a history dating back over 150 years. It has 14 plants situated across the country.
