Black Country firm doubles capacity to meet demand

A BLACK Country company which calibrates and repairs electrical and mechanical test equipment has doubled the size of its base to help meet demand.

Quasartronics has taken on an adjacent unit and now occupies a total of 2,936 sq ft at the Innovation Centre on the Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford.

In addition to the extra capacity, the firm has also appointed a new engineer, taking its workforce to 21. It has said if demand increases then further recruitment may be necessary.

The company was formed in Dudley 20 years ago but moved to Pensnett eight years later.

Owner and managing director Kevin Webb said: “We have doubled our accommodation here because we needed the capacity to cope with our growing workload. We have a database of 4,000 customers, ranging from self-employed electricians to multi nationals, and serve an area stretching from Manchester to the East Midlands, the M40 corridor and the Welsh border and everything in between.

“We offer a total calibration service for sectors including the automotive and energy supply industries. Some clients need their testing equipment to be re-calibrated every 12 months while for others it may be every three to six months, depending on how sensitive the equipment needs to be.”

He said the firm had opted to stay at Pensnett because of its existing base there and the area’s strong transport links.

The Pensnett Estate is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties Ltd. The property company is also based on the site.
