Thompson pushes for Chinese business through trade show

A BLACK Country manufacturer is aiming to win new business in China by taking part in one of the country’s largest trade shows.
Friction welding specialist Thompson is looking to expand its overseas markets across Asia, which is one of the main reasons for its participation in CIMT, China’s biggest machine tool show, which takes place in Beijing from April 22-27.
The Halesowen firm will showcase its range of new generation PR piston rod machines, which feature a number of innovations for boosting accuracy and productivity.
The models are specially designed to join a range of chromed piston rods and cylinders used in construction machines.
They are not only equipped with an enhanced hydraulic control system, but also an improved heavy duty flash removal device which offers better chip control thanks to a head mounted flash guard.
Rob Stevens, Asia sales manager, said: “At the last CIMT show, Thompson not only won a raft of orders from customers in China, but also from manufacturers in other parts of the Far East as well as from Australia.”
Thompson will also be promoting its range of linear friction welding machines for joining a wide variety of components for the aerospace, medical, power generation and high-performance engineering industries.
Following the CIMT exhibition, Thompson will begin preparing celebrations for the 50th anniversary of its first-ever friction weld with a special event in May.
