Coventry hotel gets luxury upgrade

A COVENTRY hotel has undergone a £140,000 refurbishment in a bid to attract more guests. The investment has created 20 additional rooms at the De Vere Village Urban Resort.

The hotel was chosen by parent company De Vere because the facility is one of its flagship venues. It is one of the first hotels in the group’s portfolio to receive a facelift and the upgrades are now being rolled out across the firm’s estate.

The upgraded rooms, named ‘Upper Deck’ after the second floor business class sections of Boeing 747s, is aimed at providing a luxury alternative for guests at the three-star venue.

The revamp has seen 20 rooms created over two floors. They have been completely re-decorated and re-furnished with recessed spotlights, new beds, chairs and vanity units, bedlinen upgraded to finest Musbury linen, and rooms fitted with free Sky HDTV and BOSE speaker docks.

Hospitality trays have also been given the Upper Deck overhaul, replacing the usual tea and coffee with Starbucks gourmet drinks and snacks and existing complimentary toiletries with premium Aran Aromatics gift packs.

De Vere said the transformation would offer both corporate and leisure guests more sumptuous surroundings during business or holiday excursions.

Damian Groom, the hotel’s general manager, said: “We are thrilled to be one of the first De Vere Village Resorts to receive the Upper Deck treatment.

“This investment is a boost not just for our hotel, but for the region as a whole.

“We feel it is imperative to show our commitment to continued improvement, even in these tough economic times, and hope to see more changes later in the year.”

He said there were also plans in place to extend the hotel’s catering facilities with a new Italian restaurant during the summer.

“It is an exciting time and we can only see this bringing more prosperity to Coventry,” he added.
