Redhill work progressing to schedule says Staffs County Council

CONSTRUCTION of a new business park in Staffordshire, set to create 2,500 new jobs, is on schedule with work continuing to improve access to the site, the county council has said.

The local authority is investing £10.7m into the development of Redhill business park, north of Stafford. It anticipates the site will generate strong returns through additional rates, with the money being ploughed back into the county’s coffers.

It said this was in addition to the economic benefits of new jobs and private sector investment.

The park is aimed at businesses in the research and technology sector, enabling them to set up manufacturing and production units.

Work on the A34 is being carried out to construct a temporary site access, with ground works on site set to begin shortly. A contraflow system will be in place to keep traffic moving throughout the spring.

Staffordshire’s cabinet member for assets and environment Mark Winnington said: “It’s great to see work on schedule and progressing well. We understand people may have faced some delays on the A34 but we have worked hard to ensure this is kept to an absolute minimum and informed people at the earliest stage.

“This project is all about delivering jobs and economic growth so I am sure people will look forward to the long-term benefits. We hope when completed that Redhill could create in excess of 2,500 jobs.”

Seven plots aimed at high quality businesses would be developed on the site, which lies on county council land to the north of the existing retail and business park.
