St Modwen begins work on Long Marston scheme

BIRMINGHAM developer St Modwen has started work on the first phase of its scheme at Long Marston, Warwickshire, which will include 284 homes and green space and recreational activities for residents.

St Modwen has begun developing a new roundabout and access road at the site’s main Campden Road entranc, and buildings are being demolished to make way for the first phase of housing.

Work is also starting on the local centre that will include a village hall and shop. In addition, parts of Quinton Brook that are currently culverted are being opened up.

Work on the first phase will also include a sports pavilion and pitches, children’s play areas, a skate park, 14 full size allotments and car parking.

Peter Rudd, senior development surveyor at St Modwen, said: “This first phase of work is just the start of our transformation to create a thriving new village that will benefit new residents as well as those in the wider community.

“Along with St. Modwen’s Long Marston Business Park, this will be a place where people can live, work, shop and socialise with easy connections by foot, bike and bus.

“It will also bring a welcome boost to the Stratford-upon-Avon community with the creation of more than 550 construction jobs and a number of other opportunities via the local centre and the other elements of the broader, planned scheme.”

The homes will be delivered by Persimmon Homes. St Modwen and Persimmon established a joint venture in 2010 and plan to develop more than 2,000 residential plots on eight sites over the course of a seven year period.
