Lafarge Tarmac wins £70m North West roads contract

SOLIHULL-based road contracting firm Lafarge Tarmac has won a highways contract with Halton and Warrington Borough Councils worth up to £70m.

Construction press reports suggest the contract is worth up to £7m per annum and will run for six years, with the option for a four year extension.

Lafarge Tarmac will start work for Halton Borough Council in June 2013 and Warrington Borough Council in April 2014.

Paul Fleetham, managing director of Lafarge Tarmac’s contracting business said: “This is the latest in a string of major contract wins for Lafarge Tarmac.

“It demonstrates the strength of our offer and the proven experience we have of working in partnership with councils to deliver managed highways services.

“We are delighted to be working with Halton and Warrington Councils and will help them to unlock efficiencies through our innovative value-added solutions, and by drawing upon our technical knowledge, experience of asset planning, extensive site network and integrated materials supply capabilities.”
