Government offers start-ups free office space in Birmingham and Staffordshire

THE government is targeting start-up firms in Birmingham and Staffordshire which are looking for office space.
The ‘Space for Growth’ scheme provides space free-of-charge within Government buildings for start-up firms, charities and social enterprises in order to help them grow.
In the West Midlands spaces are available at:
• Ministry of Defence’s Army Careers Information Office, Burton on Trent,
• Ministry of Justice’s County Court, Burton on Trent
• Department of Communities and Local Government’s offices in Paradise Circus, Birmingham
• Ofcom’s offices in Ridgacre Lane, Birmingham
“Space for Growth is an initiative that makes space available in Government buildings for start-ups, SMEs, charities and social enterprises, providing a stepping stone from home working to an office environment,” said the regional Cabinet Office.
“Government believes that SMEs are key drivers for economic growth, that fledgling social enterprises can build strong communities. That is why it has committed to giving these organisations a helping hand in the early stages.”
The scheme works by charging firms a £25 administration fee and in return they can book space for free at locations across England.
Workstations can be booked on a flexible basis, from just half a day when required to full-time on a temporary basis.
