New appointment at NC Creative
SOLIHULL based marketing communications business, NC Creative, has expanded its team with the appointment of Shirley Sturzaker as the agency’s new Business Development Manager.
As the former Project Director for Solihull Business Improvement District, Ms Sturzaker is a well-known, respected and well connected figure within the Solihull business community. In her new role she will combine work for NC Creative with her own project management business.
NC Creative Managing Director, Åsa Walker, said: “We are absolutely delighted to secure the services of Shirley. She brings a wealth of experience to the role and has a proven track record of seeking out business opportunities and delivering tangible results – not least evidenced by the commissions her new project management venture has already obtained from clients such as the Association of Town & City Management and Grand Designs Live.”
The new appointment is part of NC Creative’s wider development strategy, designed to meet renewed demands for creative marketing, digital and social media services as the economic recovery gathers pace.

Awards recognition for DESIblitz
Birmingham-based DESIblitz.com, the British Asian lifestyle website, has been chosen Best Website at the inaugural Asian Media Awards 2013.
DESIblitz.com provides news, gossip and gupshup with a Desi twist. With South Asian sub-continent roots, Desi is a collective tern classifying the culture and people primarily from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. DESIblitz.com was named the best site because of the engaging and high calibre nature of its content and the quality of its design and presentation.
The award is a major milestone for DESIblitz.com, a social media venture backed by Aidem Digital CIC, which started publishing stories related to British and South Asians in 2008.
Indi Deol, Director of DESIblitz.com said: “We are very pleased to have been selected as the winners of Best Website award at the first Asian Media Awards, which is a fantastic platform to give Asian media contributors much needed recognition.”
The website, which has more than 11.5m hits per month, has its highest audience in the UK followed by India, USA, Canada, Pakistan and the rest of the world.
Media Beard targets growth from University of Warwick Science Park
A FLEDGLING digital marketing and social media agency is working with businesses at the University of Warwick Science Park.
Media Beard, which provides innovative social media and digital marketing support, has expanded into Ignite space at the science park’s Warwick Innovation Centre.
Sarah Law initially launched the company from her home in December 2012 after identifying a growing market across the Midlands.
With previous experience as a marketing manager the 25-year-old helps companies to increase their online brand positioning including social media platform set up, search engine optimisation (SEO), content writing, and community management.
Media Beard – the name inspired by the bearded bohemian media types that work in London’s Tech City – currently works with a range of clients across the education, music and e-commerce sectors to deliver creative digital marketing solutions.
Ms Law said: “I really wanted take on more responsibility and launching Media Beard has allowed me to be really creative.
“I’m hoping that our move to Ignite space at the Warwick Innovation Centre will help take the company to the next level.”
She said the firm was now looking to expand its client base across all business sectors.
“There is definitely less competition in the Midlands than in London and we hope that by forming partnerships with web developers and PR agencies we will be able to offer an inclusive package,” she said.
