NEC Group boss Thandi appointed as West Midlands Deputy Lieutenant

NEC Group chief executive officer Paul Thandi has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands.

Thandi has been the CEO of the NEC Group since October 2006, following 15 years in the media industry, and presides over one of Europe’s largest and most high profile venue management companies.

He was one of eight people commissioned to become Deputy Lieutenant, and the appointment was approved by The Queen with immediate effect.

He joins a group of Deputy Lieutenants in the region, whose duty it is to represent the Queen under the leadership of Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the West Midlands.

Paul Sabapathy CBE, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Paul Thandi, who is doing a fantastic job at the NEC Group promoting the West Midlands, has agreed and  been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of the second largest Lieutenancy in the country, covering 2.7m people.”

Thandi added: “I am honoured to have been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of the county and very much look forward to working with the Lord Lieutenant and colleagues in discharging my duties.”
