Rolls-Royce flies high with £100m+ US Air Force contract

MIDLANDS aerospace giant Rolls-Royce has been awarded a £109.6m contract by the US Air Force to expand the company’s support of the C-130J transport fleet.

The MissionCare contract covers sustainment services for Rolls-Royce AE 2100 engines as well as nacelles and propellers on the US Air Force C-130J fleet.

The work includes logistics and programme management support, engineering services, spares and technical data support. The US Air Force increased its order for spares and spare parts, as well as adding Rolls-Royce field service representatives at two new bases.

Rolls-Royce now provides C-130J support at 12 US Air Force bases, with ten in the US and two overseas.

Paul Craig, president – defence customer services – at Rolls-Royce, said: “We continually seek new ways to deliver innovative and cost effective support to the US Air Force and we are delighted to be expanding our services on their behalf.”

Through MissionCare, Rolls-Royce offers a suite of services, tailored to each military customer’s needs. The US Air Force contract is in the seventh option year.

The Rolls-Royce AE 2100 engine is part of the AE product family, which has more than 5,800 engines in service and nearly 60m flight hours.
