Ricoh lures major rail industry awards to Coventry

COVENTRY’S Ricoh Arena has secured a new contract to stage a major awards event for the rail industry.

The RailStaff Awards, run by trade magazine RailStaff, recognises people connected with the UK’s railway industry from drivers and cleaners to engineers and station staff.

More than 1,100 will attend the event, which is being staged at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh on Saturday, October 25. It is the seventh time the awards have been held but the first time they will be taking place in Coventry.

Karen Payne, Senior Event Manager for Rail Media, said: “The awards ceremony is growing in popularity each year and this year’s is expected to be the biggest and best yet.”

Chris Owen, Senior Events Manager at the Ricoh Arena, said the support shown for previous awards indicated the significance of the event and staging it at the arena was a coup for the city.

“The Ricoh Arena is working with the organisers on every element of the night from the pre-dinner networking drinks to continuing the after-show party in the casino,” he said.
