Birmingham City agrees new shirt sponsor deal with payment app provider

BIRMINGHAM City has agreed a new shirt sponsoring deal with payment app firm Zapaygo for the forthcoming Championship season.
Under the deal Shenstone-based Zapaygo will be the football club’s principal partner for the next two years.
The firm’s name will adorn both the club’s playing and replica kits across the 2014/15 and 2015/16 campaigns. It will also give Blues fans the benefit of exclusive offers and competitions.
Under the strap line ‘mobile payments on the go’, the free Zapaygo app enables users to pre-order products from their smart devices.
In common with other payment apps, the process requires no scanning, no cash, no cards and no terminals.
Zapaygo is being rolled out to a host of bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and nightspots. The app will also be set up in retail and wholesale environments.
Places using the service include Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse Bar & Grill at The Cube, Mechu in Summer Row and The Plough in Harborne.
Commenting on the partnership, Zapaygo co-founder, Richard Dilworth, said: “As a small local company with great backing and huge ambitions we are very proud to be associated with Birmingham City Football Club, its global brand presence and great heritage. We look forward to the coming season.”
Birmingham City’s head of commercial, Ian Dutton, added: “Zapaygo are going to revolutionise the way consumers purchase anything moving forward.
“The great thing about this product is that it’s really going to benefit not only our supporters but also venues as well. The venues that implement and support this app will genuinely find it to be of benefit to their customers.
“I’d like to thank all the team at Zapaygo, we’re really excited about this new campaign. We’re looking forward to making Zapaygo really successful.”
