Telford & Wrekin start-ups encouraged to join enterprise scheme

START-UP businesses in Shropshire have been encouraged to participate in a new enterprise event designed as a local version of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Enterprise Telford, which takes place between November 17 and 21 at Southwater One, Telford’s new £250 shopping and lifestyle development, is aimed at people who want to be their own boss and run their own business.

Cllr Bill McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Finance and Enterprise, said: said: “Enterprise Telford is aimed at inspiring people looking to start their own business to take part in free events aimed at helping them explore their potential as business start ups.

“I am looking forward to a fantastic week of engagement with people who have creative minds and entrepreneurial flair who will contribute to and ensure the future growth of Telford and Wrekin.”

The event is supported by Young Telford and The Federation of Small Businesses.

Those participating will be encouraged to develop their business plan and get their initiative up and running.

A diary of events for the week is available at www.telford.gov.uk/enterprise where people can book their place on the two-day start up workshop, enter a Dragons’ Den-style competition with £3,000 worth of business support as prizes and also apply to join the Start Up Business Boot Camp.

The week will also feature an Inspiration Information Day where attendees can meet start up support organisations that can help a business get off the ground, join workshops and listen to presentations like “business idea to first sale”.
