Nolan Associates celebrates awards haul

BIRMINGHAM-based structural and civil engineers Nolan Associates has won a series of top sector honours for some of the most high profile developments in the Midlands.

The firm was victorious in two categories and highly commended in a third in the Institution of Structural Engineers Midlands Region Awards.

The winning developments were phase 1 design for the regeneration of Longbridge Town Centre and Network Rail’s new operating centre at Rugby.

The commendation came for the Monarch hangar at Birmingham Airport.

Nolan Associates chairman John Nolan, who is also visiting professor in onnovation at Birmingham University’s School of Engineering, said: “All three projects have been in the public spotlight and we are thrilled to have our work endorsed by our peers.

“We are proud of each – hopefully they make a statement while at the same time delivering quality facilities which meet the practical requirements of those using them.”

Recruiter launches West Midlands office

STAFFORCE Recruitment is launching its first office in the West Midlands.

The company has a 28-strong network of branches and on-site operations stretching from the north of Scotland via London to Chichester on the south coast.

It will launch the office in Bath Avenue, Wolverhampton, this month.

The new office will supply temporary and permanent staff, from first time job seekers to semi-skilled workers, to the commercial and industrial sectors, and specialise in the aerospace industry.

It is the sister brand to executive recruiter Nicholas Associates, which has been in the city for a number of years.

The office is being headed up by Leah Midgley who has many years’ experience in industrial and commercial recruitment.

Founder and chairman Nick Cragg said: “The West Midlands has a very proud industrial and manufacturing heritage and that fits very well with the type of businesses Stafforce Recruitment specialises in working with.”

 

Morris Site Machinery signs up partner Down Under

MORRIS Site Machinery has announced that AllightSykes has been awarded distributorship of its SMC lighting tower range across Australia and New Zealand.

AllightSykes will be promoting the nine-strong SMC line-up of LED, solar and Metal Halide towers within its Allight range available through its network of overseas territories including South East Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.

For Wolverhampton-based Morris Site Machinery, the move is the latest step in a campaign to power its growth through international sales and aftermarket partners.

Chief executive Chris Morris said: “As a business, securing the right sales and service partners is as essential as providing the ultimate product. This new partnership locks down a very important part of the world for us and will strengthen our hold and impact in emerging territories.”
