Edgbaston fans Ashes fever with release of extra Test Match tickets

CRICKET fans are to get a second opportunity to get their hands on tickets for this summer’s Ashes Test Match at Edgbaston.

Edgbaston Stadium has confirmed that more tickets for the game will be released from 10am on Monday (March 2).

Tickets for days two, three and four of the 3rd Investec Ashes Test Match – which is staged in Birmingham from Wednesday July 29 to Sunday August 2 – had initially sold out. However, a limited number of tickets have now been returned from sponsors and new ones released after confirmation of the sight screen position.

Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said: “Some of the seats that go on-sale on Monday are located directly behind the bowlers’ arm with a perfect view of the action; we always release these seats later following confirmation of the position of the pitch and the resulting sightscreen.

“England against Australia is the greatest rivalry in Test cricket and the demand that we’ve seen for this match has exceeded what we saw in 2009 when Edgbaston last hosted an Ashes Test.

“We’re very excited to again host one of the biggest matches in world cricket and see the return of Test Match cricket at Edgbaston, after a three-year absence.”

Demand is expected to be high, especially as Visit Birmingham has already identified the game as one of hottest tickets in town for 2015.

More information will be available by visiting http://www.edgbaston.com/ or calling 0844 847 1902 from 10am on Monday.
