Twin appointments for Gateley

GATELEY has expanded its Regulatory team with the appointment of two new lawyers.  Pauline Munro has been appointed as legal director and Kate Oliver as a senior solicitor.
 
Ms Munro, who has more than 20 years’ experience of working for clients facing regulatory intervention and covering a range of areas including health and safety, trading law and standards, food and product safety, product recall and contentious environmental matters, has joined from Pinsent Masons.

She has previously advised clients such as Wm Morrison Supermarkets, DCC, Certas Energy UK and Dunelm.
 
Ms Oliver joins the firm following 10 years with Worcestershire-based Thomas Horton and advises on all aspects of regulatory law.  She specialises in white collar defence work for businesses and senior office holders across all regulatory disciplines including fatal accidents, fraud, pollution and bribery. She has significant expertise of criminal defence work in the fraud and money laundering area.
 
Ruth Armstrong, partner at Gateley’s Birmingham office and head of the firm’s Regulatory team, said: “These are two key appointments as we look to further expand the firm’s regulatory services.

New tax specialist for Anthony Collins

James Hall, senior associate, Anthony Collins Solicitors BIRMINGHAM-based Anthony Collins Solicitors has welcomed a new senior associate, James Hall, who joins the firm from Meridian Private Client.

Hall (left) specialises in tax and estate planning, helping clients to effectively manage their estates and protect their assets.

He will help deliver a bespoke service, helping clients to mitigate their exposure to inheritance tax, capital gains tax and to preserve their wealth for future generations.

Hat-trick of promotions for Band Hatton Button

Mark Moseley, managing director at the firm, has stepped up to the board as a partner. He joined Band Hatton in 2008 and has over 20 years’ experience as a business leader in the financial and legal sectors.

In 2013 he oversaw the successful merger of Varley Hibbs, Button Legal and Band Hatton.   

Michelle Gavin has been made a partner at the firm after joining the company in January 2014 from SGH Martineau, as associate and head of the firm’s trusts and probate department.

Her expertise include wills, trusts, estate planning, home protection trusts, the administration of estates and trusts along with lasting powers of attorney and court of protection work.

Sarah Avern joined Band Hatton in 2003 and is widely regarded as one of the leading residential property lawyers in the city.

She has been promoted to associate, head of residential property, where she heads up a team of expert lawyers specialising in a wide-range of property matters including sales, purchases, transfers of equity, shared equity schemes, lease extensions and help to buy purchases.

Band Hatton Button is one of the largest law practices in the city with 16 partners and in all over 75 employees now based at the firm.
