Skydive boosts Crowe Clark Whitehill’s fund raising drive

TWO members of the Midlands office of accountancy firm Crowe Clark Whitehill have completed a skydive for charity.

At the second attempt – weather conditions were not right first time round – Kathryn Williamson, marketing assistant, and Jack Edmonds, trainee chartered accountant, stepped out of an aircraft for one of those must-do lifetime moments.

And in the process they raised £2,137.50 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, the office’s nominated charity for this year.

“It was a great experience and a real thrill,” said Kathryn.

Johnathan Dudley, Midlands managing partner of Crowe Clark Whitehill, congratulated the pair.

“This was an extremely brave thing to do and I am very proud of Kathryn and Jack for going the extra mile to give our fund-raising for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity such a massive boost,” he said.

The event took place at Tilstock Airfield in Shropshire.

adi Group celebrates Responsible Business Week

BIRMINGHAM-based engineering solutions business, adi Group, is taking part in a nationwide awareness week co-ordinated by Business in the Community (BITC) to highlight the importance of corporate social responsibility.

All this week UK businesses will be demonstrating their commitment to their local communities as part of Responsible Business Week.

Leading the charge for Birmingham is Kings Norton-based adi Group. The adi Group is also part of the BITC’s Ready for Work programme, a scheme which enables disadvantaged people to gain work experience through placements, with the ultimate goal of helping them in to full time work.

With a 14-strong apprenticeship academy, on-going partnerships with local schools and fundraising events that raised £30,000 the last year, adi agrees that giving something back to the community should be high on the list for any business.

Group chief executive Alan Lusty said: “We believe that we have a responsibility to both our community and our industry to provide a positive contribution wherever we can.

“Whether it’s going into schools to support young people interested in engineering, sleeping rough for local charity St Basils, or even going paperless in the office, we try to seize every opportunity we can to make a positive impact.”

J S Wright sponsors small-sided football

JUNIOR football teams starting their first season in competition have been given a boost by a Birmingham-based building services provider.

J S Wright, a mechanical services specialist with offices in Aston, Bristol and central London, has agreed to sponsor the new under seven and under eight small-sided teams at Penkridge Junior FC as the Charter Standard Community Club celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

The company has given its enthusiastic support to the youngest teams at the club after learning that Penkridge is to benefit from a new third generation astro-turf pitch and aims to launch two adult teams next year.

J S Wright, which is celebrating its own 125th anniversary this year, has donated £750 towards the funding for the small-sided teams, who train on Saturdays at Monkton Recreational Centre in Penkridge

Marcus Aniol, managing director of J S Wright, said: “We are delighted to be bringing some community cheer to Penkridge by sponsoring its junior soccer sides.”

Final countdown for West Brom fundraising trio

A TRIO of fundraisers from the West Brom building society have been putting in the miles in preparation for the Virgin Money London Marathon.

Steve Clark, Nick Trueman and Ruth Holyoake work at the society’s head office in West Bromwich and will all be raising vital funds for charity when they take on the challenge on Sunday 26 April.

Steve Clark is on target to raise £2,000 for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), inspired by his father-in-law who has lost the sight in one eye and is having pioneering surgery to save the other.

Nick Trueman aims to raise £1,500 for the Beacon Centre in Sedgley while Ruth Holyoake is representing the Saltmine Trust in the marathon and is hoping her running total will be approaching £2,000.
