EY strengthens IT Risk and Assurance with new appointment

EY has grown its IT Risk and Assurance practice in the Midlands with the appointment of a new executive director.

Piers Clinton-Tarestad has more than 15 years’ experience assuring and implementing IT risk solutions for clients in the products and services industry and energy and assets markets.

He joins from Deloitte and will be based out of EY’s Birmingham office.

The appointment supports EY’s continued expansion in the Midlands and follows the recent appointment of assurance partner, Andy Williams, together with a number of significant appointments in areas such as cyber security, ERP assurance and IT audit.

EY’s Midlands practice has grown by more than 6.3% over the past year and now has in excess of 800 people based at its Birmingham office at One Colmore Square.

Clinton-Tarestad said: “I’m excited to be joining the Midlands team at a time of significant opportunity, in both the audit and advisory markets, as we help clients respond to changes in audit regulations and IT risks, including cyber security.

“EY has a strong base in the Midlands, as well as an impressive team and track record in the IT Risk and Assurance practice and I look forward to playing an important role in its future successes.”

Chris Voogd, head of assurance at EY in the Midlands, added: “Our Midlands Assurance practice has grown by 11% in the last year, reflecting the continued investment we’re making in our regional business. By continuing to invest in our people, business and brand, we’re targeting new opportunities across the region.

“Piers’ experience advising a variety of clients and his ability to build strong relationships will be vital in helping us deliver on our Vision 2020 growth ambition to more than double the size of our business.”
