D-Drill boss joins Build UK board
JULIE White of Coventry-based D-Drill is part of a new board that is intended to drive forward all aspects of the construction industry.
Build UK has been established after a merger between UKCG and NSCC and brings together 27 of the industry’s largest main contractors and 40 leading trade associations representing 11,500 specialist contractors.
It will provide a single voice for the whole of the contracting supply chain and will address key issues and, in turn, improve the delivery of projects and drive growth.
White, who is also chair of the training board, is part of the main Build UK board.
She said: “I am delighted to be part of the Build UK board and I am very much looking forward to working with partners across the construction industry to drive and deliver positive change.
“This is an exciting step and one I am very pleased to be part of.”
LSH invests in talent with capital markets move
PROPERTY consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) is continuing its investment in young talent by bolstering its capital markets team in the Midlands with the arrival of Ankur Chadha.
The 28-year-old senior surveyor will join Adam Ramshaw, head of Birmingham office and director of capital markets, and Matt Jenns in the three-strong team.
Chadha joined LSH three years ago and has worked alongside office agency director Alex Tross covering the West Midlands region.
He was recently involved in a deal which saw AECOM acquire 10,000 sq ft of office space at Victoria Square in Birmingham city centre.
The growth of the capital markets team comes during a period of expansion for LSH, which earlier this year acquired ES Group and retail specialists Tushingham Moore.
Ramshaw said: “We have expanded the team and broadened our scope to cover the entire West Midlands and East Midlands regions which clearly demonstrates our desire and commitment to providing the very best service levels for investors.”
New appointment for Bilfinger GVA building consultancy team
THE Midlands office of Bilfinger GVA has appointed Alex Marock to its building consultancy team.
Marock joins as an associate from the Birmingham office of Knight Frank.
Well established in the regional property sector, his CV also includes roles at independent construction consultancies, The Livemore Partnership and Baily Garner.
This appointment comes at a key time for the building consultancy team, following a successful year which has witnessed a sharp spike in demand for its services.
David Martin, senior director, building consultancy, said: “Alex’s appointment is reflective of the upturn in the market which has led to a growing demand for project management work.
“This also plays into our wider drive to grow in every other area of Bilfinger GVA, most notably those that complement our strongest service lines.”
New recruits boost growing Fusion team
WEST Midlands building consultancy Fusion has expanded its team following a series of new employers’ agent contract wins.
The company, based in Ludgate Hill, Birmingham, has appointed Baljinder Malhan as a quantity surveyor to strengthen its cost consultancy team, and Kim Douglas, to assist the building surveying team.
Malhan brings more than 13 years’ experience in a vast array of property sectors, including residential, healthcare, leisure, education and nuclear.
He joins the company from Rider Levett Bucknall, where he was a senior quantity surveyor.
Douglas, who worked for Chubb Fire and Security, where she was senior customer adviser/trainer for new staff, will be providing essential administrative support to the QS and building teams.
Steven Jelfs, Fusion director, said: “The past 18 months have been very exciting for Fusion, thanks to a series of business wins. We’ve been growing steadily, which has put us in an excellent position to seek new clients for short-and long-term projects.”
