Security specialist joins eResponse Crowd Safety

REDDITCH-based, eResponse Crowd Safety has announced the appointment of event security and crowd safety expert Robbie Naish.

He  will work closely with eResponse’s Crowd Safety director Andy Hollinson to deliver a variety of crowd safety, dynamics and security-related training programmes to the company’s clients around the world.

Hollinson said: “Robbie has a world class reputation in the industry so it is a big coup for us.

“For over 15 years Robbie has made a name for himself lecturing around the world on all aspects of crowd safety and counter terrorism procedures. His knowledge, respect and credentials are second to none.

“During his career he has helped countless event organisers around the world to develop crowd management plans and strategies. He is often the first name on the list for people who look for advice when it comes to high profile public events, so I am certain Robbie will help us maintain eResponse Crowd Safety’s rapid growth since we launched in 2014.”

Marches LEP adds further weight to its board 

THE Marches Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has announced the appointment of five new members to its business-led board who bring with them expertise in specific industry and skills areas from the private and not-for-profit sectors. 

Each will serve for a two year period.
 
At the same time, it has been announced that its chairman Graham Wynn has been re-appointed to his role and will be supported by existing board members Mandy Thorn and Paul Hinkins who jointly assume the role of deputy chair.
 
Peter Brown, chief executive of Herefordshire Housing Group, is one of those to join the board this September and with his experience, which spans over 40 years, will lead on housing related matters for the LEP. 

Duncan Varnes, meanwhile, has a career with global technology and manufacturing giant GKN.  He has particular expertise in the aerospace and automotive sectors and so will bring to the LEP an in-depth appreciation of the skills issues faced by these manufacturing sectors.
 
Sonia Roberts joins the board with a background in the voluntary and charitable sectors and currently holds roles with Landau and Shropshire Providers Consortium. Also joining the board is Christian Dangerfield who has a wealth of experience working in the global financial markets, especially in the Far East, and now manages a portfolio career from his farm in Herefordshire.
 
Finally, Steve Wain, principal at Shrewsbury College joins the board to ensure that the needs of young people entering the workplace in the region are appropriately represented.
 

Director of education for Warwick Music Group

THE company behind the world’s first ever plastic trombone – which has since become the world’s best-selling trombone – has announced the appointment of Chris Fower as director of education.

Fower, a professional bass trombonist and leading authority on brass music education, has worked with Coventry-based Warwick Music Group since 2011, and was a key member of the team developing pBone and its latest product, the first-ever all-plastic trumpet, pTrumpet.

He has performed, delivered music workshops and teacher training worldwide in locations as far apart as Kampala, Camden and California.

In his new role, he will head Warwick Music’s education team that supports and promotes brass music education through training programmes, workshops and sessions to children and teachers worldwide.

Wrights Food Group strengthens management team

STOKE-on-Trent-based Wrights Food Group has appointed Jez Threadgold as its new commercial director in a move designed to bolster the company’s growth plans in the food service and retail sectors.
 
Threadgold joins from 2 Sisters Food Group where most recently he was site general manager for Matthew Walker with responsibility for all of the business unit’s functions from operations through to commercial. 

Prior to that hewas commercial controller for two businesses within 2 Sisters – Matthew Walker (Christmas puddings) and Avana Bakeries (cakes and desserts).
 
During his career, which includes sales, commercial and key account roles with Weetabix and Fox’s Biscuits, he has gained extensive experience of working with major UK retailers, food service and cash and carry operators, across both branded and own label products.
 
Peter Wright, chairman and CEO of Wrights Food Group, said: “This is a key appointment for our business which will help us maximise the commercial opportunities across all our key product areas including savouries, ready meals, cakes and desserts.”
