Le Monde on top of the world after winning seafood restaurant award

THE Birmingham restaurant Le Monde has been named Best Seafood Establishment across the Midlands in the annual Food Awards England.
At an awards evening in Manchester, general manager Gemma Meah was commended for the range and quality of seafood on offer at the Brindleyplace eatery.
Le Monde opened in August last year Since then it has become popular for offering fayre such as Dover sole, monkfish, sea bass, prawns and lobster as well as fish and chips; it has introduced daily specials such as clams, wolfish and John Dory and has launched an oyster bar featuring hot and chilled oysters.
Meah said, “We are thrilled with the award, and our thanks go to all of our customers who nominated us. We are proud to offer a good range of fresh fish and seafood every day, which guests can view in glass display cases before making their choice. It is something a little different for Birmingham, particularly as we are so far from the sea.”
It is the third award for Le Monde this year. In January it won two Best of Broad Street awards organised by Westside BID in Birmingham – for Best Newcomer and Best Fresh Food Restaurant.
Food Awards England celebrate and reward the very best in England’s food sector. The awards are based on a public vote.
Other categories presented range from Best Street Food to Restaurant of the Year.
