Engineering firm secures £500,000 contract on North Sea project

A WALSALL engineering company has seen a positive start to 2016 after landing a contract in one of the most volatile sectors of the economy.

Aldridge-based Maloney Metalcraft, part of Avingtrans’ Energy and Medical division, has won a £500,000 contract to provide components for a project in the North Sea.

The contract will see the firm design and manufacture two hydrocyclone vessels and associated pipe work used to remove the final traces of oil from water during the extraction process.

Design work is already underway with the finished components due for delivery by the middle of the year.

Austen Adams, managing director of Avingtrans’ energy and medical division, said: “This contract is a great start to the year for the business.

“As has been widely reported, the oil and gas industry has been going through a torrid time over the last 12-18 months, with many projects being put on hold as the oil price falls.

“However, this contract is proof that there is still work in the market for trusted suppliers with the experience and expertise to deliver high quality design and engineering services to the market.”

Avingtrans’ energy and medical division is designed as a one-stop shop for the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of systems for the oil and gas, nuclear, power, renewables, environmental and medical markets.

With facilities in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire; Aldridge, West Midlands; and Chengdu, China, the division specialises in the design and manufacture of pressure vessels, heat exchangers and filtration and separation components in a range of materials – from basic carbon steels through to high tensile steels, stainless steel, exotic alloys, high nickel alloys and aluminium.
