Walsall College expands online learning services to boost business

WALSALL College has launched a Virtual Academy to bring learning into the digital age and enable more people in the wider community to access its online learning opportunities.

A suite of free online business modules have been designed to help new or existing companies develop the knowledge and skills required to help their businesses grow. Areas covered include management, winning customers, recruiting people and exporting.

Free interactive units in maths and English have also been developed to provide individuals with the skills essential in almost any job. The units include animations and quizzes for people to test their knowledge in short, fun lessons designed to inspire and engage.

In addition, more than 250 courses from health and safety and mental health to employability and safeguarding are available and on successful completion, students will be awarded with a CPD or City and Guilds certificate.

Jayne Holt, Assistant Principal for Learning Services at Walsall College, said: “Not everyone feels comfortable learning in the traditional way, so we have created the Virtual Academy to help individuals who want to upskill or progress in their careers, to do so by learning at their own pace and at a time that is convenient for them.

“It is also a cost effective way for businesses to ensure they have the skills they need for the future sustainability of their company, whether through mandatory training courses or new ideas to give them the edge over their competitors.

“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to boost skills in the community, which we pride ourselves on serving, and believe this virtual academy will enable more local people to further their learning than ever before.”
