Bilfinger GVA renews Travelodge lease at Fort Dunlop

PROPERTY consultancy Bilfinger GVA has renewed the lease for the Travelodge hotel at Birmingham’s Fort Dunlop building on behalf of its client, a Tristan Capital Partners fund.
Travelodge, which has 522 hotels, has signed a new 25-year lease for the 100-room hotel at Fort Dunlop, with EPISO 3, the real estate investment fund advised by Tristan Capital Partners.
EPISO 3 acquired Fort Dunlop in July 2014 and has committed to upgrading and developing the building. It has completed external and M&E works to the property and also invested a substantial sum to modernise the Fort Dunlop Travelodge, supporting the brand’s nationwide £100m hotel modernisation programme.
Andrew Whiteford, associate in retail, hotels and leisure at Bilfinger GVA said: “We were delighted to act on behalf of Tristan’s fund and it is a very positive outcome that Travelodge has decided to stay and renew its lease.
“Further investment and development of the existing facilities will significantly enhance this landmark site.”
Bilfinger GVA’s retail, hotels and leisure team has also been retained by EPISO 3 to advise on Fort Dunlop’s ground floor retail facilities, which include a gym, convenience store, restaurants and a café.
Chris Webb, director at Tristan Capital Partners, said: “We are happy to have renewed the long-term relationship with Travelodge at Fort Dunlop. Their continued occupation here shows the strength of the location, and Fort Dunlop as a thriving business location in Birmingham.
“We are committed to the continued investment in Fort Dunlop and look forward to working with Travelodge, and our other tenants to maximise the facilities and amenities at this prominent location.”
