Ice cream sellers take a licking in Worcester

ICE cream sellers in Worcestershire are taking a licking off the local authority after it ruled they must move on after a maximum of 15 minutes.
Other mobile street traders have also been given their marching orders by Worcester City Council with new rules stipulating they can only stay in one place for 30 minutes so they don’t steal trade from bricks and mortar retailers.
However, the council’s plans have come under fire – and not just from the street vendors.
Pensioners groups have said those less quick on their feet may miss out on their favourite treat if the time limits are strictly enforced.
The council has said the new rules are likely to make no difference to most mobile traders.
It said the majority of them had established routes and times and would never normally stay in one spot for half an hour anyway.
Also, it said it did not expect pensioners to be inconvenienced as most people were aware of when and where a particular seller would appear.
